Diversity is here to Stay!
Is Your Organization on Board or Going to be Left Behind?
If elections are a barometer for the change and inclusion happening in our country, let the recent results indicate a resounding YES! Take a look at some “firsts”:
- Hoboken elected the first Sikh mayor
- Seattle choose its first lesbian mayor
- Provo its first woman mayor
- Charlotte its first African American woman
- St Paul elected its first African American man
- Minneapolis elected a openly transgender black woman to the city council
- An Asian American woman was elected to the Virginia Legislature
Now compare the demographics of your organization to the results above, especially in leadership. One of my favorite mantras for recruitment is, “Recruit 50% that don’t look like you.” Remember if a person cannot see it, they can’t be it! For example, if a woman is aspiring to join the ranks of leadership and there are no woman at the top, it’s a challenge for her. |

You Don’t Say – Navigating Nonverbal Communication Between the Sexes |
|
You Don't Say is the first book to explore the misunderstandings that often arise between the sexes due to nonverbal communication — and to show readers how to say what they mean and get what they want. More than words, it's nonverbal cues that have the power to improve — or impair — our interactions with the opposite sex at home and in the workplace. |
