Going from Automatic to Conscious Communication: How do We Change?
The most common question I get in my training sessions is "How do I change?" First I think you start with the "3 self's of change:"
1. Self awareness
2. Self monitoring
3. Self management
These 3 hold the key to changing our communication habits. First, I have to be self aware of my communication style. The good, the bad and the ugly. Second, I need to pay attention to how people react to my communication style, especially reading their nonverbal reactions. Are folks rolling their eyes when I say things? Finally, I can self manage my communication. For example, maybe I need to speak less and listen more or make sure I always include one accolade in my communication.
If you are interested in pursuing how to break habits, pick up a copy of The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg. He focuses on how to nurture the good habits and rid ourselves of the bad. |

Audrey –
Thank YOU so much for such a fantastic presentation! We had a packed house – standing room only and the presentation was so good that all the ‘standers’ stayed the entire hour. I didn’t get an official count but we had well over 80 people in attendance which is about double our normal turnout.
Even better is the feedback I have received since the presentation. A number of those in attendance came to me personally to request more of your presentations and I’ve received emails as well to the same effect.
Christine, I greatly appreciate the recommendation of bringing Audrey in for our first L3 of 2012. It was more successful than I had hoped it would be.
Kind Regards~

Audrey,
Seeing you at the luncheon at Covidien was a treat and was very timely for me. There were pearls of wisdom that I plucked from your presentation, however, I am truly interested in knowing more about female empowerment. Do you have a book on this topic, or will you be presenting this topic in the Boulder area?
Thank you for the positive impact that you make!
Judy
